Sarah McGlathery Female sarahmcg11@aol.com www.sarahmcglathery.co.uk The aim of this project (entitled 'The Scene') was to photograph a variety of people on the London fetish scene. The inspiration came from working at 'The Xpo,' which is an annual fetish event at the Barbican Centre, where I met a diverse group of distinct individuals. The idea was to communicate aspects of each person's personality. All the sitters were photographed in a location of their choice, mostly in their homes. The media has affected general views of the fetish scene - most people would expect to see a leather clad character wielding a whip. I wanted to highlight that it is different for each person. Some may make a living from it, some may find relief, some the feeling that they are a part of a family and others may just like getting dressed up and going out with friends.
