Rosie Ward23, Female rosieward@ymail.co.uk +44 (0)7590 253 483 My work (entitled 'Me, Me, Me') allowed me to examine the modern trend I had become aware of, and was uncomfortable with, of phenomena such as facebook and myspace. These are platforms for what seemed to be pointless narcissism through the use of newly accessible digital photography. By turning the camera on myself the project encouraged me to explore how I represent myself as an individual and it's effect on how I analyse what I see, or what I am 'looking' for in a photograph of me. The piece is about the process of experimenting in front of the camera and becoming so aware and comfortable of it's presence that you no longer consciously pose or perform for it. The paradox being that no matter how absent-minded you may be in your reaction to being photographed the process will still be a transformation from yourself in reality and, therefore, always has an aspect of performance. It was also about having fun and making faces. |
