Michael McCabeMale michael_mccabe1987@hotmail.co.uk ÔUntitled ProjectionsÕ is a series of images looking into the idea of man-made spaces, how they are used and why. The work shows images of spaces found on the Internet being projected onto objects, which then in turn projects shadow onto the original images, effectively destroying them. The objects are either taken from the original image (i.e. Balloons) or are hand made models of the spaces being shown in the images. The reason the images are taken from the Internet is to show the low quality pixilation of them, which helps to add another layer of separation between the space being shown in the image and the space which has been created. The work attempts to challenge the idea that one can never really tell how big an object is by the depiction of it in a photograph and also raise questions about how the spaces make us as people feel and act. |
