My final degree project is based on childhood objects and memories. I used old family photographs which revealed personal objects from my past. I then re-photographed them and placed them next to the original images. The objects were placed in a white space to emphasize their nostalgic status.

I have presented the photographs in a book entitled ‘Ron’s Emporium’, the name of my parent’s antiques business they ran when I was a child. The ‘Emporium’ was adjoined to our family home, the Victorian bungalow shown on the final page of my book. ‘Ron’s Emporium’ shut its doors for the last time in October 2004 and we moved onto a new house. Recently returning to the bungalow I found that it had been knocked down and replaced by eight new houses. This project revisits the memories I have tied to a place that no longer remains.
